Siubhan K. Bongiovanni – Veterinarian
Dr. Bongiovanni became the owner of the Chittenango Animal Hospital in 2003. She received a BS in aerospace engineering from Boston University in 1991 and her DVM from Tufts University in 2000. Dr Bongiovanni has resided in Chittenango most of her life, and she has worked at the Chittenango Animal Hospital in several capacities since 1986. She joined the staff as a veterinarian upon graduation in 2000. Her interests include dental disease, oncology, and renal disease.
Laura B. Cook – Veterinarian
Dr. Cook has been an associate veterinarian of the Chittenago Animal Hospital since she received her DVM from Cornell University in 1989. She grew up locally in Manlius NY, and currently resides in Perrryville. She received a BS in biology from Cornell University in 1978. Her interests include surgery, nutrition and behavior. She is also involved with the NY State Fair.
Karen B. Schreiber – Veterinarian
Dr. Karen Schreiber joined the Chittenango Animal Hospital as an Associate veterinarian in 1998. She received a BA from Oberlin College in 1993, and her DVM from Cornell in 1997. Originally from the Rochester area, Dr. Schreiber also worked in Niagara Falls before joining our staff. Dr. Schreiber’s interests include pocket pets, exotics, and liver disease.
Claudia P. Knapick – Veterinarian
Dr. Knapick joined the Chittenango Animal Hospital as an associate veterinarian in 2006. She earned a BS in Animal Science from the University of Delaware in 1995 and her VMD from the University of Pennsylvania in 2000. Before relocating to the Syracuse area, she worked in Orange County, New York. Her interests include internal medicine,small mammals and radiology.
Randy Cook, LVT – Technician
Randy is a 1997 graduate of SUNY Canton’s Veterinary Technology program where he earned outstanding senior man at Canton and a SUNY Medal of Excellence. He joined the team at Chittenango Animal Hospital two years later. In addition to caring for pets in Chittenango, he is also a veterinary technician at the Rosamond Gifford Zoo in Syracuse. Randy’s veterinary interests run the gamut of medicine, including diagnostics, surgery and education.
Chris Hollenbeck, LVT – Technician
Chris has lived in NY since 1985. She started working at Chittenango Animal Hospital in August of 2001. While working with all the animals she was inspired to get her veterinary technicians license and graduated from Cedar Valley College, Dallas Texas in 2012. Her interests include dentistry, behavior, and emergency medicine.
Joyce Pfeiffer, LVT – Technician
Joyce grew up in Camillus N.Y. and moved to the Fayetteville area in 1990. She shares her home with her daughter Kaitlynn, their dogs Nina, MaryAnn, their cat Sephanie and Mark the horse. Joyce graduated from West Genesee High School, then Canton Agricultural and Technical College in Canton, N.Y. Upon passing the New Your State board exam in 1980 she was licensed as a Veterinary Technician. Joyce has been employed by Chittenango Animal Hospital since 2011. Joyce’s daughter Kaitlynn is presently pursuing a career in Veterinary Medicine.
Chrissy Groskin, LVT – Technician
Chrissy started as a Veterinary Assistant at Chittenango Animal Hospital after she graduated with a B.S. from SUNY ESF in 2006. After 2 years here she worked at a local emergency center and gained experience in many other aspects of Veterinary Medicine. That led her to St. Petersburg College for her A.S in Veterinary Science. In 2013 she came back to Chittenango Animal hospital as a Licensed Veterinary Technician. In her spare time she loves to be outside with her dog, enjoys camping and riding her dirt bike.
